Welcome to my therapy practice. I offer individual adult psychotherapy in both English and Spanish in Durham, North Carolina and online.
I see the therapeutic process as a collaborative partnership in your journey of healing and growth. In my work with clients, I understand the present as influenced by significant life experiences, past relationships, and the larger culture and systems we live in. Trauma, old patterns, and wounding live in our bodies and show up in many ways including in our relationships, beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and body sensations.
We will work together to understand, heal, and integrate these through a therapeutic approach that is relational, embodied, identity-affirming, anti-oppressive and spirit-oriented. My approach is warm yet direct, collaborative, and non-judgmental and influenced by several frameworks and modalities including: psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family System (parts work), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for traumatic memory re-processing, Emotionally Focused Therapy for relationship dynamics, and Polyvagal Theory and nervous system awareness & regulation.
I work with individuals around an array of areas including:
childhood and intergenerational trauma
life transitions and crisis events
exploration of identity (gender, sexual, racial, cultural, ancestral, religious etc.) and the impact of the systems we live in
relationship dynamics including communication & boundary-setting, reactive vs. generative conflict, healing past relational trauma through intimate partnership, and navigating poly or ENM dynamics
embodiment, body image, and body positivity or neutrality
sexuality and past sexual trauma
pregnancy, post-partum mental health, and parenting
I especially enjoy working with individuals who hold non-dominant identities (including clients who are queer, trans, non-binary or questioning, immigrants, Latinx and/or Spanish-speakers, BIPOC, AFAB, and cis-women), anyone exploring their identities, parents or those discerning that path, and spiritual seekers.
